The Montana Highway Patrol has released a video to remind travelers the dangers of driving in snow and ice. The video features dash-cam footage which captures a series of subsequent collisions occurring after the initial crash that disabled a family’s vehicle. Fortunately, everyone lives, but it's a terrifying ordeal for all involved.

New KanDrive site struggles to keep up with demand; issues being addressed to better serve you in the future
Last week you may have noticed that we announced a
re-designed KanDrive, and were touting its capabilities to run on all internet
platforms, from mobile, tablets to desktops computers. It had 100,000 users in
just three days of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and then you, our loyal
users noticed it wasn’t performing as usual.
And when it wasn’t performing to the high standards that
we have for KDOT applications we went to our backup plan, the old 511.ksdot.org
and were able to get current road condition information out to the traveling
public.
Why did the system break down? There were several
contributing factors, including a hardware issue and overwhelming usage. In
fact, the demand for information from KDOT’s travel information services was
three times greater than it had ever been before.
We’re grateful so many of you sought road information
from KanDrive and we appreciate (seriously) that you let us know when the
system didn’t work. We know what the problems are and they are being fixed. So
please, the next time there’s a storm, come back to KanDrive for information
that will help you make the best travel decisions.

Know before you fly
Drones are expected to be one of the top-selling holiday gifts this season. In anticipation of that, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday its recommendations to require all drones to be registered online. The process is expected to be free. Those found without registered drones will be subject to a fine up to $25,000. It's important to note that these are just recommendations at this point. No deadline has been announced for when to have your drone registered and the registration process has yet to begin. To read the full FAA report, click here.
The short-video below also gives some safety tips for drone owners.

Thanksgiving Travel Tips
1. Check your vehicle's condition: tire tread and pressure, fluid levels and mechanical equipment.
2. Have an emergency kit, including bottled water, blankets, non-perishable food, chargers and a flashlight with batteries.
3. Allow plenty of time to arrive at your destination.
4. Check road conditions before you travel by calling 511 or visiting kandrive.org, particularly in the instance of inclement weather.
5. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Have a designated driver for the ride home.
