The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm
warning for much of the state starting this evening through Wednesday morning.
The heaviest snow
fall is expected in north central and north east Kansas with six to 10 inches
of snow and ice accumulations predicted.
The warning cautions
of heavy and blowing snow, which may make driving conditions hazardous.
We want to encourage
travelers to be safe. The best option is
to stay home and avoid driving if you can.
However, if you do have to drive, the best place to find information on
road conditions is by calling 511 or by visiting Kandrive.org. Below are some of the features of KanDrive.
This is a map of road conditions across Kansas as of
9 a.m. today. As you can see the roads
are mostly clear at this point, however a portion of U.S. 69 in
southeast Kansas is partly snow packed (Note: the blue arrow is pointing to
this section of roadway.)
In addition to the map, you can
also view pictures from the actual roadway.
You also have the option to do a camera tour, which allows you to view
all the photos along your route. Here
are some of the photos along I-70 as of 9 a.m. today.
