St. Patrick's Day is one of the most dangerous days for driving

With the green beer flowing faster than the Kansas river, it's not surprising that there is an increase of alcohol-related traffic accidents on St. Patrick's Day.

In fact, Forbes lists St. Patrick's Day as one of the most dangerous holidays for driving.  And according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2008 to 2012, drunk driving claimed 268 lives on St. Patrick’s Day alone—an average of 54 deaths on each St. Patrick’s Day in the past five years.

We want to encourage all those participating in the festivities honoring Irish culture and history this weekend to be safe and plan for a sober ride home.  You can also play a role in keeping your friends and family by being a designated driver.  Mothers Against Drunk Driving has designed coupons that you can send to your loved ones to give the gift of a designated driver. Click here to check that out.

Let's all do our part to make sure these celebrations end on a happy note.  Sláinte!
